Sales Engineer, Web Security & Delivery, Remote

On behalf of our client, a Cyprus-based European boutique IT systems integrator, we are seeking a highly experienced Sales Engineer to join its growing team.

COMPANY  is a leading provider of next-generation web security and content delivery solutions. The partner with industry-leading vendors, including Cloudflare, Akamai, and CDNetworks, to design, implement, and manage solutions that keep its clients' online applications fast, secure, and reliable.

ROLE: This is a high-impact role where your technical expertise and communication skills will directly influence sales success and customer satisfaction. As the key technical expert, you will partner directly with the sales team to identify opportunities, understand customer challenges, and design matching solutions. You will be responsible for addressing complex needs in web performance and security, architecting solutions from Company’s product portfolio, and demonstrating clear business value to Company’s clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Sales: Collaborate with Account Executives to qualify opportunities, develop technical sales strategies, and ensure all proposed solutions are technically sound and deliverable.
  • Technical Discovery: Lead customer-facing discussions to uncover and understand business and technical requirements, identifying pain points related to security (DDoS, WAF, bot management), performance (caching, routing), and reliability.
  • Solution Architecture: Design and architect comprehensive solutions using Company portfolio of web security and delivery services to meet customer needs.
  • Product Demonstration: Deliver compelling, customized product demonstrations and technical presentations that showcase the value of our solutions.
  • Proof of Concept (PoC) Management: Scope, manage, and deliver successful PoCs, working hands-on with the customer to prove the solution's value and drive a technical win.
  • RFP/RFI Response: Act as the technical lead for responses to RFPs and RFIs, ensuring all technical requirements are addressed accurately and professionally.
  • Customer Advocacy: Build trusted-advisor relationships with technical stakeholders (e.g., CISOs, DevOps, Network Engineers) at customer and prospect accounts.

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for a candidate who meets one of the following two profiles:

Profile 1: The CDN / Web-Security Specialist

Hands-on Provider Experience: Demonstrable, hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting solutions from one or more major CDN / web-security providers. This includes:

  • Company Main Vendors: Cloudflare, Akamai, CDNetworks
  • Other Key Providers: Amazon CloudFront, Google Cloud CDN/Media CDN, Fastly, or other similar platforms.

Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the modern CDN and cloud security landscape, including WAF, DDoS mitigation, Bot Management, and API Security.

Profile 2: The Infrastructure Engineer

Hands-on Infrastructure Experience: Deep technical expertise in designing, building, and managing core web infrastructure components, such as:

  • Web Servers / Reverse Proxies
  • Load Balancers
  • Web Application Firewalls (WAF)

Strong Fundamentals: A passion for web performance and security, with a proven ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Required Skills for Both Profiles:

Customer-Facing & Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A consultative, problem-solving mindset.
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Presales, Solutions Engineering, Technical Account Management, or senior Support/Consulting).

Core Technical Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of core networking and web protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, and SSL/TLS.
  • Familiarity with web application architecture and common security vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:

  •  Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., vendor-specific certs, CISSP, CCSP).
